Counterculture

OK so i'm gonna start talking about some of my favorite musical subcultures which are heavy metal, industrial, indie, and to some extent, tekno (but that's expressing what i want to say in very abstract terms, if at all, in words). I am quite surprised by the fact that not so many people are aware of this. People who are into counterculture in general may think it's obvious to them but it's not that clear to people who are not aware of it.
The reason why i believe that heavy metal and other subcultures is important is that the themes it deals with have to do with not so pleasant topics such as serial killers, war, organized religion, abandonment issues, depression, and social critique among others.

First of all we have to start with the fact that people are generally stupid and this gives a clear explanation as to why mainstream music is mainstream and it is considered the norm. The people who are in charge know how to manipulate the masses and music is just one of the ways they can do so. You can see it in mainstream music like the way lyrics and role models are portrayed. Everything has to do with sex, everything has to do with love (or rather our limited perception of what love really is, which is to a great extent influenced by mainstream media). The people in charge have realized that sex and the drive for sex is really strong and can drive a person to do things which would he/she not necessarily do when not under the influence (of mainstream media spells) .

Counterculture made me realize what real lies are
(there is room for doubt here, as i could be just another puppet/moron)
and it all started when i first started listening to Machinehead whose lyrics have to do with issues of abandonment, loneliness, domestic abuse, isolation and striving to be a better person by believing in yourself. I strongly believe that we should spread the word to make this subculture and other subcultures known. We the people owe this to ourselves as Humans. We have to be strong, and start believing in ourselves as true individuals and that means being able to express ourselves in an unfiltered, untainted and honest manner. it's not going to be easy. But the goal is definitely worth it.
